Play Loud and Win Proud: Understanding the Craps Rules
Craps is a form of dice game that is one of the most exciting games in online casinos. In a regular brick-and-mortar casino, it is that area in the casinos where you will hear a lot of people shouting and yelling around the table. The craps table is long rectangular table and there are 2 dice that players use. The dice are manufactured following the strictest standards and they are always checked for any inconsistencies and damage. Every 8 hours, new dice will be placed to ensure optimum results. The brick-and-mortar casinos usually also implement rules on the way the dice will be handled by the players.
The shooter is a player who bets a minimum on the pass or don’t pass line. This can also be called win or don’t win. The shooter will be presented 5 dice by the stickman. The player chooses the 2 dice to roll. The stickman then gets the remaining 3 dice which are set aside.
The shooter will roll the dice using only one hand. The dice should hit the wall that is at the opposite side of the table. When one or both dice go outside the table, the stickman inspects the dice and puts them back to play again.
A total of 20 players can play craps on the table and each can be given the opportunity to become the shooter. If you do not want to throw a dice, you can make a bet on a thrower. There are a number of bets that you can make in this game. The crew that manages this table would be the boxman, stickman and a couple of dealers.
Craps is played in various rounds. The shooters are determined by moving clockwise on the craps table. A player can still bet even without rolling the dice. There are 2 phases on the game. There is the come out and the point. To start the game, the shooter will make a number of come out rolls. If the dice ends up with the numbers 2, 3 or 12, it ends the shooter’s round and the players will lose the pass lines. The come out roll numbers are 7 and 11. This will result to a win on the pass lines. The shooter will try to make the come outs until he makes a roll on numbers 4-6 or 8-10. These are the point numbers. The dealer will press a button that will show that the second phase is on. The aim of the shooter is to make the same point. This will result in a win on the pass line. If the shooter rolls on a 7, the pass line loses and the round ends.
Remember, the first roll is the come out roll that starts the new game of craps. The come out roll is done only if the shooter fails to make a good roll. After one round, a new game moves on to the new shooter. If the current shooter makes a point, the dice are returned to him and then he makes a new come out. The game proceeds like the first one. Then after losing, it goes to the next player, clockwise around the craps table.
The dice roll across a table specifically designed for craps. This is divided into 3 areas. There are 2 areas on either side or a central section that separates the two. Each side is the same size and look. Both of them contain the terms pass and don’t pass line, come and don’t come, odds, place and field. The central area holds the proposition bets.
The pass bets will win when the dice reveals 7 or 11. The pass bets will lose if the dice reveals 2, 3 or 12. The don’t bet will lose at 7 or 11 and will win on a 2 or 3. If the throw of the dice fetches you a 12 then it is a tie. However, in some casinos the tie is 2. Look at the bar roll that is on the layout it will show which number will make a tie.
A player who wishes to join the game and wants to play craps without taking the role of a shooter should go to the table and see if the button is lit at any of the point numbers. If the number is off, that means this is a come out round. If the on button is set, it is the point phase a pass line bet cannot be placed at this point. The proposition bets on the other hand can be made on both rounds.
On every roll of the dice there is a time interval that is set for dealers to manage the losses and earnings of players. After that, new bets can be made. The stickman will monitor all the movements around the table and will decide when to provide the player with the dice after which no more bets are accepted.
This is the list of the bets you can place on craps:
• pass line- WIN on 7or 11 , LOS on 2, 3 or 12
• Point- 4-6 or 8-10 the number that appeared should be repeated before landing on a 7 to win if 7 lands first before point, you lose.
• Odds on pass line- when the point is rolled, one can place an additional bet called odds. This offers different results on different points. 4 and 10 will have a 2:1 payout 5 or 9 will result to 3:2. 6 and 8 will pay 6:5.
Come has the same rule as pass line. It is different since you only make this bet after a point on pass line is made. On the come out roll, you make the pass line bet. Once you place the bet on the first roll of dice, you see the bet for come. If it is 11 or 7, you win, and you lose on 2, 3 or 12.
The don’t pass is the reverse of the pass line. You just reverse the win and lose system.
The don’t come bet is the reverse of the come bet. Again, just reverse the win and lose system.
• The other bets are place bets, field bets, big 6 and big 8 as well as proposition bets.
